Brief Description
The CLM02 trailer-mounted runway friction tester is designed for measuring the friction coefficient of airport runways. It is a specialized ground support device essential for ensuring the safe takeoff and landing of aircraft, and it has been officially approved as dedicated equipment for civil airports. This system is equipped with an automated computer-based measurement unit, an integrated water tank, and a spraying system. It offers broad adaptability and can be used on both concrete and asphalt runway surfaces. The system supports continuous automatic spraying and measurement over distances of no less than 7,000 meters, and it is capable of operating in rainy and snowy weather conditions.

Safety Design Concept

Equipped with German SAF/AL-KO chassis:
1. The system uses an independent braking mechanism with integrated service and parking brakes, ensuring responsive and reliable braking performance. This prevents insufficient or failed braking of the towing vehicle caused by the significant inertia at high testing speeds.
2. An emergency breakaway braking system is installed to minimize the risk of equipment roll-over or high-speed collision in the event of accidental detachment during testing.
3. The axle has a service life exceeding 20 years and requires no maintenance.

Ease of Use
The tow bar is equipped with a height adjustment assist mechanism, allowing for effortless height adjustment. It is compatible with towing vehicles of various hitch heights.

Reliability and Technological Advancement
We have accumulated many years of experience in the design and development of friction coefficient testing equipment, along with extensive data analysis from airport applications and valuable feedback from end users. The system utilizes an industrial-grade laptop with a fully Chinese-language interface tailored to China’s operational environment, enabling it to withstand more demanding working conditions and significantly enhance product reliability. All selected components and materials are of the highest precision and grade among similar products, and have undergone rigorous inspection and testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the friction coefficient testing equipment.

Computer-Controlled Operation
The system features an industrial-grade touchscreen laptop running a Chinese-language Windows operating system. The testing software employs a Chinese drop-down interface. The computer supports programmable operations and allows continuous testing of friction coefficient values ranging from 0 to 1.0.

Printing System
Equipped with an onboard printer capable of real-time printing. The printer is connected to the testing computer via a data cable and utilizes thermal printing technology.

Electronic Calibration Device
The calibration instrument used is an external electronic calibration device, offering high accuracy and easy operation.

Water Spraying System
The spraying system includes a water tank, water pump, water pressure sensor, valves, fittings, and a regulation system. The water tank is made of stainless steel with a capacity of 600 liters. A variable-displacement pump is used. The system supports continuous spraying tests over distances exceeding 7,000 meters, maintaining a water film thickness of 1 mm.

Test Tire
The equipment uses a specialized grooved test tire compliant with CAAC, ICAO, and FAA standards. The tire is made from the same material as aircraft tires, with an operating pressure of 0.7 MPa.

Data Acquisition
A dedicated high-speed data acquisition card is used for collecting test point data. The density of test points reaches 3–4 points per meter, significantly enhancing data accuracy.

Application Achievements
At present, the equipment has achieved more than 200 successful applications, including: 4 units at Beijing Daxing Airport, 3 units at Beijing Capital Airport, 3 units at Wuhan Airport, 2 units at Chongqing Airport, 2 units at Zhengzhou Airport, as well as deployments at Xi’an Xianyang Airport, Urumqi Airport, Sanya Airport, Kangding Airport, Manzhouli Airport, and others. Among these, there are more than ten high-high-altitude airports and over twenty high-altitude airports.
